The folks over at Gallup have put together some interesting statistics on both un- and under-employment in chart form with accompanying analysis. Both may be found

According to the group, unemployment may have burst back through the psychologically important 10% level during the past few weeks to 10.1%, a sharp increase from the 9.3% level which has been the most quoted number for August. Underemployment also remains high, though this broader measure increased less dramatically to 18.8% from 18.6% last month.
