    Wow, there's a lesson in the art of negotiating if I ever saw one. If it looks at first glance like Obama got the best of the deal, that's because the House asked for far more than the leadership knew it could ever get. High (or, in this case, low) aspirations led to better results--the House got more because it wanted more, despite having far less leverage than Obama.

    BlawgConomics may let the graphic speak for itself, but I won't.

    Thanks also for pointing out one of the two points we were trying to make with the graphic (the other was simply the turn from the longer-term trend the budget has taken in recent years), and doing it as well, if not better, than we could.

    Maybe it was a good move to leave the commenting to commenters after all!
