A recent Washington Examiner piece quoted an anonymous IRS official as saying that instructions to more aggressively vet Tea Party-linked non-profit applicantions came 'from the top'.
But, what is the top? The top IRS audit official? The head of the IRS itself? A top Treasury official? A top Obama aide? Obama himself?
It seems unlikely, no matter how many heads roll due to this scandal, that Obama will ever be directly linked to it via some kind of 'smoking gun'. Plausible deniability is a trademark of those in power.
However, despite that, White House claims that there was no awareness of this situation among those in Obama's camp also seem increasingly disengenuous...
