What's New on Blawgconomics

At Blawgconomics, we are known to be creatures of habit. Sometimes we are even called 'stodgy,' 'boring' and 'bland' due to our conservative, neutral color scheme, our aversion to change, a use of old-timey fonts and a fear of integrating video into the site that lingered well over a year into its existence. After all, we thought, you might not be able to get a little pregnant, but people remain free to embrace 'the internet age' small bits at a time. However, as of last night all of that changed. Slightly.

Regular readers will note the minor format changes to the site, including a more modern font and a tweak to the size of the text. Unfortunately (in the minds of some at least), however, the neutral color scheme is here to stay. Among other differences is a streamlining of the menu bar to the left of the page; the news and resources remain but the some of the less utilized bits have been taken down. Among these subtractions includes the 'search' tool, which has instead been integrated into the tool bar at the top of the page.

There is also a section named 'trending topics' cascading down the left side of the page. Here readers will find the top few articles their fellow readers have been accessing over the past week. Today, for example, it appears as if Americans are still concerned with debt, that people have mistakenly come to my article on Nic Cage's old legal problems in Germany due to his new legal problems in New Orleans, and that someone is doing a paper on Lucas v. the Forty-Fourth General Assembly of the State of Colorado. It also appears that there is far more interest in making Ponzi schemes legal than we could have imagined when we posted the thought piece on that topic. Whether this is with nefarious intent or not we will leave to the hearts of individual readers to determine.

Finally, and perhaps most notably, we have replaced the old 'followers' section with a new option for readers to have postings blasted to them whenever they are made. This is called, we think quite helpfully 'Receive Posts by Email.' Though we are aware that the more tech savvy among our readers have us set up in RSS feeds (by hitting 'Follow' in the tool bar above), there are still some among their peers who are the human equivalents of the boring website with the neutral color scheme; readers for whom receiving their news 'old school' through email is just fine, thank you.
