The Drug War is Awesome, Part III

It has been our great pleasure to work with e-satirist Rob Morris to provide a second home for his video series on the War on Drugs. His videos have been provocative (in the best sense of the word), and have clearly brought out the best in our commentariat. Today, we are happy to be able to post the final video in the War on The War on Drugs Trilogy, and I think this one just might be the most compelling of the three. That said, it would probably be best to let it speak for itself...

  1. Isn't the use of drug money to support terrorists another reason to punish those who purchase illegal drugs? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AVQnbNspHsk

  2. I love that PSA. Its an incredible concession by the government. Our drug laws cause terrorism! If it were legal there would be no issue.

You can look at this in three ways. Morally, the government should not be telling people what to do no matter what the cost. If you're for the nanny state, that's sad, but we're not going to come to agreement on that.

Then there's the practical way to look at it. Prohibition has failed to stop this black market for 40 years. That PSA is five years old and hasn't slowed anything down. If anyone in Washington were serious about this issue they would end prohibition to take away the terrorists funding.

Then there's the snide slippery slope argument. Oil money causes Terrorism. You going to ban that too?

You can look at it in terms of practicality
