For anyone interested in a thoughtful piece on the price of healthcare in the U.S., visit here for a recent post by Richard Posner. Interestingly, and unusually for him, Posner seems to be supportive of even more government regulation (albeit different regulation than exists currently) of the healthcare system as a means to get costs down.
He gets to that point by emphasizing the market failures that exist as a result of imperfect information among patients. While there is, in my opinion, more to that when it comes to the healthcare system problems plaguing the nation, it is nonetheless an interesting perspective which is stimulating some interesting comments.
